I was told at the bar that a safe/out call went against our team at third base because the line ref didn't like our team! Somebody from another team told me this. I believe I know which team that line ref played for -- and if I'm right, I find it highly ironic that someone from that particular team would call us jerks.
I mean, come on. We're Cobra Kai -- being intense, intimidating and mean is kinda our gimmick. We knew we'd get that reputation, especially because this fall league seems to be less competitive than the spring league was. We are good people, with a couple of team members that are a bit too intense sometimes. Regardless, I think this week the other teams finally realized that we are not the biggest on-field jerks playing on Thursday nights.
I'm not saying this team is filled with bad people. In fact, I like all the teams that play on Thursday night. Off the field, all of them are great. But on the field, I'd say this team's jerkiness at least equals ours. They argue calls just as much as we do (if not more), they are at least as competitive as us, and they don't give an inch. There's nothing wrong with any of that...but I find it amusing that anyone on their team would complain about any other team's on-the-field attitude. Pot, meet kettle. That's all I'm saying.
We should use this like the Patriots. Everyone is gunning for us. People are even trying to cheat when not involved in a game against us? Well, I guess the chip on our shoulder wasn't big enough. It'll be bigger now.
In other news, my ankle was killing me this morning. But someone gave me some Motrin IB, and it's feeling significantly better. I might have to switch to this for aches and pains over straight ibuprofen -- I wonder if I can also take these 3 at a time. I won't be running through the field or kicking within the next day or two, but if the pace of my improvement continues I should be at least close to 100% for our first playoff game.
