A Tribe Called Quest: “Jazz (We’ve Got)”
A Tribe Called Quest/L.O.N.S.: “Scenario”
Busta Rhymes: “Woo-Hah! I Got You all In Check”
Busta Rhymes: “Put Your Hands Where My Eyes Can See”
Black Sheep: “The Choice Is Yours” (Remix).
- These artists are in the "Native Tongue" family of hip-hop. "Scenario" is the song that broke Busta Rhymes' potential as a solo artist. But "The Jazz" in my opinion, is an even better song from the same Tribe album, Low End Theory.
"The Choice Is Yours" is by the Black Sheep of the family tree. I can practically recite this song word-for-word -- and we've already discussed how difficult that can be, haven't we? That's how much I like it and how much of an impact it had on me.
Busta's solo work is simply revolutionary. I don't feel the need to expound. His skills are second to none, and his beats are amazing.
Puff Daddy: “Victory”
Notorious B.I.G.: “Niggaz Bleed”
I may rag on Puffy, but that doesn't mean he doesn't occasionally produce amazing shit.
More to come...

HAHA!
YES! One of the BEST Biggie story songs EVER...
"The funny thing about it, through all the excitement... They Range got towed, they double parked by a hydrant... STOOPID mothafuckas!"
AND on the Tribe tip... you HAVE to throw in "Excursions" for Low End just for the very first verse on the whole record:
"Back in the days when I was a teenager
Before I had status and before I had a pager
You could find the Abstract listening to hip hop
My pops used to say, it reminded him of be-bop
I said, well daddy don't you know that things go in cycles
The way that Bobby Brown is just ampin like Michael"
And imo, the MOST slept on Tribe track... Steve Biko on Midnight Marauders... sick horn loop in that song.
