EXTENDED BODY:
Del Tha Funkee Homosapien/Dinosaur Jr.: “Missing Link” (Judgement Night Soundtrack) - This song is badass. Just take a listen. Del is also in Deltron 3030, for those of you keeping score.
Spearhead: “People In the Middle” - Spearhead's album "Home" just might be the most solid hip-hop album, top to bottom, ever released. Yet few people know about them. That's why it's called underground, folks.
Snoop Dogg: “Tha Shiznit” - Snoop's best.
Craig Mack: “Flava In Ya Ear” (both versions!!) - again, Puffy somehow manages to strike gold. Craig Mack is very underrated, bu tthis song was 1993 (94?)'s biggest hip-hop hit.
Public Enemy/Anthrax: “Bring tha Noize”
Public Enemy: “By the Time I get to Arizona”
Public Enemy: “Fight the Power” - See a trend here? P.E. uses samples so obscure you can't even tell they are samples. And Chuck D. is a phenomenal rapper.
US 3: “Tukka Yoot’s Riddim”
Missy Elliot: “Work It”
Missy Elliot: “Gossip Folks” - Missy keeps getting better and better at what she does, so her most recent hits are here. There is nobody that sounds like her, and she only samples when it is instrumental (no pun intended) to the story - not because she lacks creativity. There IS a difference, and you can hear it. She's no J-Lo when it comes to using other people's songs.
N.O.R.E.: “Nothin’” Another Neptunes smash - taking a mediocre rapper and making him a smash hit again.
Slick Rick: “Lodi Dodi” - You thought this was originally by Snoop Dogg? Wrong!!!
OutKast: “B.O.B.” - One of the only critically-acclaimed rap groups that is appreciated by ALL fans of the genre, both mainstream and underground.
Jay-Z: “I Just Wanna Luv U” - The Neptunes made this Jigga's most memorable song. EVERYONE starts dancing when this song comes on at the club.
One more left...

wow... US3! I almost forgot how good that song and album was! Dude! Don't you miss the early 90's when hip hop was growing and AT LEAST TRYING to be creative? US3. Jazzmatazz, Digable Planets, even the gaddamn Arrested Development.
Music was fun, up-lifting, and creative.
Thank God there are the ROOTS nowadays.
And being the Outkast fan that I am... I have to throw this in... one of the best beats and songs... Art of Storytelling Part I... (with or without Slick Rick)... realest lyrics: Big Boi's verse on SpottieOttieDopaliscious... best guest lyrics: Erykah Badu on Liberation. Everyone, CHECK OUT "Liberation" It is an amazing live band vocal and hip hop gospel song featuring Mrs. Andre 3000 and Cee-Lo formerly of the Goodie Mobb... this song basically seperates the rappers from the MUSICIANS! And after this there should be NO DOUBT that Outkast do MUSIC and they do it WELL.
