THis has become a yearly routine for me. There is one person more responsible for me starting a website of my own, and that's Knoll. His birthday is today, only a few days before mine.
I've known him since my freshman year at Michigan, even though he went to Michigan State. Some of the guys he went to high school with became good friends of mine. We got to be good friends after I moved to San Fran in 2000; he beat me there by several months. He eventually fled the Bay Area for grad school, just as I did.
Knoll started
his own site a couple of years before he helped me put up OP 1.0. Both were hosted by a friend of his, so there was no need for a third-party provider. I'm not sure if his is back online yet, but he is the one who convinced me that putting up my own site was a good idea. Since then, it's been my venting spot, diary and therapist of sorts. I couldn't even imagine life without a weblog anymore. So for that, I owe him a lot...even though I saved his life once.
Happy Birthday, dude.
