Great. Right after I
trumpet Facebook in this space, I see
this weblog piece about how Facebook's partners pay for the right to announce to your entire Facebook network that you bought movie tickets at a certain day and time.
If this is true, it's not cool. Not cool at all. I like the people in my Facebook network, but I don't want people to have this level of information about me. In particular, I like to have control over it.
I'm not going to leave Facebook; one major reason I got sucked in was that I was missing out on Facebook-invite-only events through the network. So my first step will be to re-associate my Facebook account with some random e-mail address that I barely ever use. I won't get the bulletins very often, but hey - at least I'll retain some extra privacy.
