This editorial kinda sums up what I think about both Imus Flap I and Imus Flap II. To refresh your memory, I
didn't think Imus should have been fired back then. I really don't think this latest incident deserves any ink, but the media can't let go of a potential rabble-rousing story.
Can we stop, please? It's possible to be offended by just about anything if you spend enough time thinking about it. This time, though, Imus wasn't guilty of anything. He wasn't trying to be provocative. But in today's gotcha culture, anything you say or write can and will be used against you...especially if you've been reamed before. Fortunately, this topic has died down a lot faster than the last one.
People should be able to listen to what they want to listen to, and say what they want to say, as long as they don't out anyone else in danger by doing so. I don't know why it is so hard for some people to accept that principle. It's one thing to express disapproval of someone's words; it quite another to try to ruin that person. Leave Imus alone.
