This may be even shorter than my previous shortest review.  I had heard a lot about Snow Patrol while I was away.  They were supposed to be that rarest of rare phenomena these days: a good new rock band.

Once I got back, I discovered two things: one, they aren't new; Final Straw is their third album, unless I'm mistaken.  Two, they aren't good.

This album has a few decent songs, but generally it's very bland.  They strike me as pretty much a run-of-the-mill pop-rock band with a twinge of alternative to them.  But this album will add absolutely nothing to your life.  There are a bunch of bands, both with edge and without, that are much better at executing this kind of music in a manner that's more interesting.  They are tolerable, and a few of their songs even reach catchy level.  But they are thoroughly unexceptional and unmemorable.  Unfortunately, that has to be held against them in a big way.
