Is it possible to have less to say about a game we won than when we won by forfeit? We ended up finishing second overall, and played the second-worst team in our 16-team division in the first round of the playoffs. Or should I say my teammates played. I did not play on account of my ankle sprain. It was a lot better by Thursday, but I figured I'd save it for the big playoff Super Saturday tomorrow. I'll have to wear a brace, and play less recklessly...and hope I don't suffer any setbacks.
It was utter devastation. We averaged somewhere along the lines of 6 runs per inning. Lots of home runs were kicked, including some by people on our team who usually don't kick home runs. In the third inning, the ump asked if we wanted to call the game...and the other team said NO, even though it was extremely dark. Due to the darkness, we allowed them 3 runs in 4 innings -- it gets really hard to field a kickball when it's dark out. The final score: Cobra Kai 22 (or so), Kicks Are For Kids 3. And it wasn't as close as the score indicated.
I believe our first Saturday game is against Sloppy Seconds, a team we beat during the regular season in the spring and in this one. If we make it past them, we might run headlong into our "nemesis": Kiss Of The Badger. They are the one team that beat us in the regular season, and they did it convincingly. Again, I'll be playing with a brace, and I hope my ankle holds up - and doesn't put my team in a hole.
