While reading <a href="http://www.nfl.com">NFL.com</a> today, I stumbled upon <a href="http://www.nfl.com/news/story/6818787">an old "Where Are They Now" feature</a> on Warren Moon. Moon was one of the first all-star black quarterbacks in NFL history. When he learned that NFL teams weren't very high on him as a QB and perhaps wanted him to switch positions, Moon played for 5 years in the CFL before finally coming to the NFL. From the article:
<b>"[Moon] was elected to the Pro Bowl nine times, but his greatest honor was being named NFL Man of Year in 1989 for his charitable work with The Crescent Moon Foundation. However, the racism he had encountered in college did not disappear as soon as he reached the NFL.
"I remember one game in Houston, we lost and my son Joshua came crying to my locker that people were calling me names and he didn't understand that," Moon said. "I let him know that there is ignorance out there. I was trying to make it not as bleak as he felt it was at that moment. I just let him know that not everyone felt that way but that certain people didn't always agree with me as a player."</b>
I wonder if Rush was one of the hecklers that day?
Warren Moon played quarterback in the NFL for 18 years. Now, he is looking forward to being the first black QB elected to the Hall of Fame.
Also, this year marks the first time in NFL history that two black QBs (Daunte Culpepper and Steve McNair) will be the All-Pro starters representing their conferences in the Pro Bowl after the season is over.
Rush Limbaugh said that the media really wants a black quarterback to be successful. Well, according to football fans across the country, black QBs already ARE successful.

While I hate to quote a former Cowboys coach, I'll quote Jimmy Johnson, "All of Donovan McNabb's detractors have either gone into hiding or into rehab."
