This past Friday, I went to GradPub, an event thrown by University of Maryland's gard students. I was there via the invite of my friend Rob (no, not
that Rob). I've known this Rob since 5th grade, and he's a Ph.D student at Maryland. Afterwards, we went into D.C. to meet up with my Shuchi and her acquaintances at Buffalo Billiards (DuPont Circle). It was a very fun time, and I made a couple of new friends.
Afterwards, Rob and I went to the Coffeehouse, which is one of the most unique hangout spots I've ever seen. It is literally a campus house, complete wiith residents and a dog...but they serve coffee, food and alcohol. There are lots of couches, coffee tables and different rooms. I had no idea there was a place that conceptually cool at UMD.
Saturday night, I did nothing huge. It was pouring, so I hung out with my sister and niece, bought some books, and did some reading and TV watching. It still feels weird to be camped out in front of a TV. Again, I hope that doesn't change.
I've gotten back into the swing of swimming, and I can feel my body improving. My back feels better, and I can feel my muscles (especially the upper body) regaining the definition they lost over the past months of packing, moving and getting re-settled back home. I'm going to try to aim to swim every other day, but I've got to watch how much I spend. Until I get a job, I'm flying through the money I saved from SA. I'm hoping that situation will change very soon, but you never can tell.
