Back in the pool, and No Phone...

posted Wednesday, 20 July 2005

After driving 10 hours each way and spending 4 of the past 5 days travelling at some point, it felt really good to get back in the pool yesterday.  Whenever I don't swim for several days, I feel like a total slug.  Now I'm back in the groove.

Unfortunately, I have no phone right now.  I feel like I've lost a limb; my phone doesn't ring all the time or anything, but I enjoy the power to make contact with people at will -- not to mention it's the only number most people have to get in touch with me.  I carry around my phone in case of emergency, but it has so little power left that I've had to leave it turned off for the past 3 days.  In a way, it's liberating.  But it would be more liberating not to carry it at all, which I won't do in case of a car accident.  Plus, I got two job-related calls over the past few days, and I'd really like to follow up with them.

The good thing is, I should be back to normal today.  Barring disaster or a lie told by the shipping company, I should get my charger back via FedEx this afternoon.  At that point, I should be back to normal since my phone charges very quickly.  It'll be quite a relief to go back to normal.

By the way, I should have mentioned that we saw Eva on Friday, and that we ate at Grizzly Peak in downtown Ann Arbor.  She's doing her residency now, so my joking nickname for her ("Dr. Eva", in Dr. Evil's voice) actually makes sense.  Unfortunately, Doug couldn't make it - but I'm sure he was there in spirit.
