The Alternative Music Device Question.

So let's say that Apple doesn't fix my iPod immediately, and decides they want to give me yet another iPod Photo.  I will argue vehemently against this, since I don't need another headache within a few months.  Plus there's a chance that my service plan has expired, because they wouldn't let me buy a second one.  I certainly cannot count on a new iPod photo to do any better than the previous three.

So what do I do?  What good alternatives are there?  And can I live without iTunes?   These are the questions I need to answer just n case I don't end up getting what I need out of Apple tomorrow.
