I've been crazy busy -- and crazy sick -- for the past few weeks. The seesawing weather has made me sick yet agai; when the hi/low temps for the day resemble lopsided football scores, that's when I'm at the highest risk for being sick. Not only did it get really cold a few weeks ago, it did so with high/low days like "34 degrees/7 degrees." The fuck? Ridiculous. My body can't handle that. So I had to take it easy. Did I stop swimming? No -- but I did start taking a varietty of remedies including mucinex, Nyquil and zinc. I think the biggest reason for my bouts of illness was that I kept getting poor nights of sleep during my recovery from the last cold; I would have a dream that woke me up, then I couldn't fall asleep again. Nyquil solved that in a hurry, and I'm almost better now.
My house had our first housewarming party on Saturday, and it was amazing. The theme was "Red & Hot", and we had a really good turnout. A lot of my peeps were there, and a lot of their peeps as well. When you live in a 6-person house, I suppose it's inevitable that your parties are big. Shopping and preparing beforehand was a drama; my roommate Anay and I were out for 7 hours making executive decisions about the most economical ways to serve red drinks, get enough booze and have enough materials to properly pull this party off. Meanwhile, my other roommates decorated our house with red candles, hanging red peppers, red paper to cover the tables with, red light coverings and the like. Despite the hassles, everything seemed to go off without a hitch. I'd say we had about 80-100 guests or so, and everyone seemed to think it was a great party. I even managed to finagle a date out of the whole thing (which is happening tonight barring unforeseen cancellations). The party probably died at about three, but my roommates and I kept dancing until about 5 in the morning. It was a blast all the way around.
