The party was very successful. We had a good turnout (including a lot of kickballers), and it was the first party that we had as a house in almost a year. Our air conditioner on the first floor wasn't working, driving many guests to the second floor -- and many outside in the front of the house. This somewhat predictably resulted in a visit from a local police officer, who instructed us to get people off the street and back into the house (but did not otherwise break up the party). We ran out of alcohol absurdly quickly -- most people started to arrive at around 10, and we were out of a full keg, liquor and sangria by about 12:45. Obviously, a lot of people showed up during that time period.
Most importantly, our $2-per-cup gambit raised $320 for
this nonprofit. My brother would have been proud.
