Amtrak is
experiencing record ridership right now, despite all its well-documented service, infrastructure, funding and management limitations. Amtrak also happens to be expensive for most people relative to car/bus travel and flying. Nevertheless, ridership is soaring. To me, this is a consumer-based condemnation of the horrendous state of the airline (delays, security checks, travel restrictions, airport commutes) and automotive (traffic, fuel economy, effort) industries.
